The secret to great content (even if you’re not Shakespeare!)

OK! So your denial has come to an end. Leaving you in the realisation that you need to be building your brand through a blog, video, or some other social media platform (a combination is probably the best option).

That means you’re going to be needing a truck load of great content. And this time we’re talking quality AND quantity. Really sticky stuff that will….

  • catch the weary eyes of your potential audience.
  • Keep their goldfish-like attention span long enough to give them a glimpse of you and what you’re about
  • Have a powerful enough trigger to get them to do what you want.

Sound difficult? Well yes it is.

Impossible? Not at all.

And in this post, I’ll go through some easy methods you can use to get great content constantly for what ever purpose you need.

In a world of constant noise, how can you turn people’s heads to get them to read in the first place?

In his article, Jeff Goins puts together his catchy headline formula

Number or Trigger word + Adjective + Keyword + Promise

Which he demonstrates in the article’s headline:

“5 Easy Tricks to Help You Write Catchy Headlines”

Talk about practice what you preach! Trigger words are also important, like How or Why. 

You can also use neat little tools like this one or this one that will help you come up with really grabby titles.

Reach the right audience with the right words


In the million-mile-an-hour internet world you really have your work cut out to keep people reading your stuff. Chances are your message will be brought up quick as a flash on some mobile device as your audience is waiting for a train, about to meet a friend for coffee….

I other words a tiny window of opportunity.

With this in mind, when it comes to content creation, you should break your thinking down to just three points:

  • Who do you want to talk to
  • Where will you find them.
  • And how will you talk to them.

There are many ways to skin the proverbial cat, but keywords are a good as starter as any.

But I don’t know what to write!

We don’t want to pull the wool over your eyes. To make content that REALLY works it’s got to be punchy, personal and pretty much scream you. Adapting someone else’s stuff just isn’t join to kick it if you are looking for really eye-stingingly great content.

Any us, apart from the budding Stephen King’s or JK Rowling’s of this world are going to struggle with this part of putting together content.

What is required is a strategy. A well set out method that will help you lay out your thoughts in a way that is engaging to others.
